Anway this morning in my "local" I bought a Pink mother of the bride outfit. It has a knee length fully lined in acetate dress and a Coat on top, full length Silk Coat, fully lined and came with a silk pink hat. I got this baby for £9.00. Back here in the UK, I'm beginning to find our charity shops, especially the big chain ones, to be getting a bit boring. They never seem to have much out and even that has to be practically perfect. I like to find silk clothes showing signs of having been worn.

If I could pluck up the courage, I'd like to approach some managers to ask if I would be allowed to look through the rejects. I'm sure that they can't get much money for that stuff and might like someone prepared to buy some individual items before they go to the rag man.

Having said that, I did hit on a couple of bargains a couple of moths ago in a little shop in my local town of Consett, Co Durham.

This particular shop never has many clothes at all. I usually go there mainly for the books and music.
However, this particular day I struck a bit of gold. There was a Monsoon silk satin cocktail dress and a Monsoon silk satin cocktail skirt, both size 18, both looking practically new. Unusually , the shop was quite busy and, as they don't have price labels, I was a bit reluctant to draw attention to myself asking how much they were.

I expected the dress to be about a tenner and the skirt a fiver. Now, in the past I've occasionally missed something by hesitating, only to see someone else buy it, so I simply indicated the skirt and asked "How much is this please?"

"One pound," came the reply.

"And this?" (the dress)

"One pound as well".

2 quid? They were on the counter in a flash.

A close inspection when I got them home convinced me that they were probably unworn. They smelt brand new and the linings were showing no signs of ever having been sat in.

Unfortunately, they were both too big for me so I put them on Ebay, getting 40 for the dress and 12 for the skirt.

I hope that they went to good homes.

I've found a bag of clothes outside the local Goodwill donation box in a shopping center parking lot, it had some satin in it (a prom dress I think) but the fucking cops in this town are like sharks, and they hang out in the same parking lot in their cars jerking off to their own porn on their mobile computers. but with my luck I'd get nailed and I'd hate to be the guys face all over the 6PM news...

On another note, I was having lunch with my father once in a fairly sketchy part of town (that's where all the best ethnic food hides) and walked past a paper bag and it was overflowing be with satin clothes. But I would have some sort of reservations for picking things up off the ground in a bad part of town.

I have a GoodWill right up the street from me, but I've never purchased women's clothes there before. To be honest, I'm kind of nervous / embarrassed / afraid. I'm sure there's tons of nice satin and leather goodies there, but I just feel like people would be looking at me. That's why I mostly buy my stuff online; to avoid all of that.

I found the joys of Charity Shops early on, mainly due to my inability to buy anything online because I lived with my parents. Whenever I'm in London (with my parents at home) I go charity shop shopping. When I'm in Uni is when I actually order online, though still go shopping in charity shops if I can, coz there HAVE been some good finds

My best find? There have been a few.

I got a Max Mara dress partly Silk for nothing because I helped out a librarian carry her stuff from my former workplace (the charity shop) to the library: it was an awkward-ass piece of furniture (can't even remember what type LOOOL). Told my former boss it was for a movie.

I got a beautiful black wool coat from Donnybrook which had faux fur cuffs and a faux fur fully lined and trimmed hood, long and gorgeous and the lining was, whilst not that perfect thick type, was a nice slippery polyester. I loved that coat for years until I had to go to Uni year before last (Sept 2014) and I couldn't leave anything obviously at home, espec as my mum wouldn't be happy about me buying coats, like she knows about my fetish, but I'm always broke, whilst my dad knows most of the time (though, loool, not the CURRENT size of my current collection at Uni loool) he's not happy with me basically blowing my money and then being broke all the time. So yeah, that was a great find and probably my favourite.

My fav in terms of just being shocked I could buy it, was the first week AT Uni.

I lived in Courts (so full University Accommodation (single bedroom with ensuite for any Yanks out there who were wondering how different our Uni's are ) and near the Uni (10-15 mins walk from me) was an RSPCA charity shop. I popped in there regularly and I'd found two coats from a place called Planet. They had nice silky looking linings, one was kinda mix-checkered blue and, if I remember correctly, grey and the other was green. I'm not a fan of either colour and the coats looks plain and simple and just kinda ok. Not perfect or eyepoppingly gorgeous but just nice.

So yeah, I kinda wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the money. I only had about £500 at the time, wasn't sure about spending, didn't want to run out, wanted to save up and not continue on how I normally was (which, looking back would have been a good decision because now I'm insanely broke, mainly because of the amounts of coats I've bought.)

So, I was bored in bed one morning, couldn't sleep and I decide to google Planet to see if I could find out their prices. Most times I only buy stuff that tops at £60-80 RRP, not out of choice persay, but because everything I liked at the time wasn't exactly expensive.

So, you can imagine my surprise when I saw these coats RRPd at £299+

I swear I never got out of bed so fast in my LIFE.

Literally, right, I got out of bed, slipped some clothes on, I was desperate for them not to have gone, I just chucked on some clothes, and hustled my way to the shop, half feeling so excited I wasn't sure I could get there, half of me wanting to get there and get back so I could fuck them.

I got there, they were still there, I just looked around for a few seconds, to act normal and not freak the lady out, then casually chose the two coats, and bought them for................................wait for it............................................................ELEVEN FUCKING POUNDS. FOR THE FUCKING TWO!!!!!!

I was so pumped.

When I got home I slipped them on and they were BEAUTIFUL. I mean, the coats fit well, the linings were fucking amazing and I found out the green one had Cashmere in it.

Charity shop just opened up close to home popped in to have a look around saw a wedding dress similar to the picture instant boner , wish I had the courage to buy this or something similar from a charity shop.

Found this Karen Millen satin cargo dress in my local charity shop a couple of weeks ago. Cost £3.50 for a £200 quid dress, as you can see we have already used it.......

I haven't gone charity shop shopping in so long mainly because I buy almost everything online now but I'm really in the mood to go soon. Last time was about 2 years ago I got the train from London to Ilford. There are a lot of charity shops there. I spent about £150 altogether and ended up bringing back bags of stuff on the train.

Most of the shops are standard size but there is one large one down the far side of the High St on the right, can't remember the name but it was so much fun going through all the rails. It was quite a spacious store too (I find a lot of the charity shops in UK quite cramped). That day in the store I bought the gold floral dress and the satin blouse top in the pics, both fitted perfectly. Got some other non silk/satin items too. The old lady at the counter was very pleasant and courteous and didn't bat an eyelid.

Really cool store think it was Salvation Army? I recommenced Ilford as all the charity shops are bunched together in a compact area and the town has high st. stores like TK MAXX and cheap independent young fashion stores.
