When does a satin fetish become a satin problem?

Hi folks. I'm a 49 year old bloke (mostly hetro) who has had a satin fetish for as long as I can remember. My favourite is long, black nighties. Over the decades I have accumulated a quite huge collection. About six or seven large bags of assorted satin items. Dresses, blouses, skirts and, of course nighties and wraps. Two or three wedding dresses too. I have a couple of large boxes of items that are just too nice/expensive to *ahem* enjoy. Since finding Vinted it's kinda escalated. It used to be okay when it was one or two items a month via cautious charity shopping and ebay. It's starting to have a serious impact on my finances, mental health and marriage (she knows, but doesn't know how bad it is). Any advice?

Any time an interest consumes you, it's time to step back and evaluate. Satin, like anything else that brings such tremendous pleasure, can easily overtake one. It's okay to seek professional help. If it is that draining and interfering, not enhancing, one's life, this is what one should do.

As promdresslover has said, my opinion is that if it is negatively affecting yourself or those close to you or if you're not enjoying what you are doing then it is time to take action.
Maybe you can sell some of your satin items and use the money to treat your wife to some new satin? This way you are reducing your collection, treating your wife and yourself in the process.

If you cant bear to part with items you have no personal connection with (they're from ebay etc and not from an ex or your wifes old stuff) id suggest seeking advice.

Like any other addiction, when it crosses the line from being a hobby to an obsession it is best to seek help or discipline. My satin wardrobe is 3x larger than my male wardrobe. I have 30+ skirts and six pairs of male pants. I have more satin palazzo pants and a ton of loungewear. A few satin blouses and seven baju kurung sets that I purchased earlier this year in Malaysia. Ironically, the baju kurung tops fit my shoulders, NOT the blouses. So I am truly satin heavy with my wardrobe.
I sold wedding dresses, prom and bridesmaid dresses on eBay. I also collected Farr West lingerie from the 1990s. The Farr West went for a good price. Fortunately my wife loves satin and is always wearing satin loungewear around the house. She doesn't know the extent of my wardrobe. But her attitude is "better satins than golf, alcohol, gambling and womanizing." She does tease me of being a "skirt chaser" as I am very attracted to long silky skirts. Also, in her first marriage, her husband was a serial womanizer. Fortunately for me, she is very secure seeing me in satins around the house rather than wondering what I am doing around town away from her?
So Yes, I am obsessed and have more satin clothing than I "need." Every six months or so, I review my collection and give away items that I have not worn. I have reduced my purchasing of new items down to one every three months or so. I try to get rid of items when I purchase a new item. The exception to this rule was the baju kurung in Malaysia. Each set cost me US $6.70 for a long tunic and pleated long skirt. So if you can, enjoy your items and let them go. See my other post about "What will happen with your satin collection when you die?" This is a concern of ours.

When you wear a satin zentai in satin bedding like me, the fetish is all consuming. I love satin fetishism, especially when my entire body is covered head to toe in satin and sliding around in satin bedding all night.

I have the same problem though not quite as large as yours. I am constantly on Ebay and Etsy looking at nightgowns and bridal gowns. I have 2 problems though, first I am a size 3x which is hard to find, and I prefer the higher quality vintage satin. I was a long haul trucker for 30 years and kept my collection in my truck as my spouse didn't care for it. I would get purchases sent to a p.o. box so the spouse didn't know. Seeing that i did not have much space i was constantly forced to get rid of items. I would bet I spent over $10,000 in bridal gowns and satin gowns over the years. now that my spouse is gone I keep my collection in my closet and it has grown quite a bit. I have some nightgowns custom made one of my favorites was made by Yesmistressdesigns, but she has gotten quite expensive, but she has a bridal gown I love but I can't afford almost $1200! Another favorite is Leane's pretty dresses. I have 5 of her long dresses and I always get the satin lining. She uses a high-quality charmeuse satin. Oh, my you slip one of these dresses on and the satin just seems to take over, I try not cum in them because they are expensive but sometimes i cant help myself. I have also come to love Miss Elaine Silk Essence i have six of her gowns. I also love the double nylon gowns with chiffon over opaque nylon those are extremely hard to find in my size and but just recently bought a lime green set and a pink one, I had a light blue and 2 peaches already. I have 3 satin long petticoats to, plus 2full length poofy petticoats that i wear with my dresses once in awhile. Im always on the lookout forvintage satin bathrobes but they are hard tofind to in my size they must be full length. If any body has any suggestions where I can find vintage nightgown's and peignoirs in my size please let me know
