Does anyone else here work for a Silicon Valley company?
One thing about Silicon Valley companies is all this emphasis on non-discrimination. For all this talk of respecting everyone's gender expression, I'm kind of tempted to wear one of my satin blouses to work one day
Has anyone tried it before? I'd imagine that nothing much would happen, since no one really wanna be sued for discrimination...
Way back in the day (late 1990s) I worked at Infoseek in Sunnyvale. We had one search engineer who wore his satin caftans to work. I forgot his name, but he was extremely talented. He went on to work at Google (as most of our search department did once Disney took control and killed the company - Go.com). Socially people didn't really know what to make of him, but he was such a genius that everyone made sure he was treated well.
SV is definitely the place to push your clothing expression. It may even help you job security since tech is being trimmed back severely.

That's my concern. I'm sure no one would say anything out loud, but some may look at me differently. But oh well. How they treat me is for them to decide.
Was your colleague Arabic or did he just enjoy wearing exotic clothing?

An eccentric genius. Probably super rich as he went to Google pre-IPO.
