Lining Deterioration?

I have attached pictures of this lining. I am not sure what it is made of. It's at least 40 years old. I see worn spots at the edges of the lining. What is going on with it? Is it deterioration?

Could be moths or something. Apparently they eat clothes.

I am not sure what the lining is made out of. Does any body know by the picture what the lining is made of? The furrier says that there is no moth damage. Its the lining all worn out.

looks like either acetate or rayon. Normal wear. Acetate satin gets worn and gives way like that.

That's silk and it looks like just normal wear. Silk is organic in that it is not a man-made fabric like acetate satin. So age will cause it to wear like that. Taking all of that into consideration there are different types of silk weaves. Different weaves will hold up longer than others.
