Unisex nightdress

Post by mica46 »

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I reckon at least ninety percent, if not more, of readers of this forum are inherently male. Am I right? That will be because if a female wishes to purchase a satin or silk garment be it a nice satin wrap or a chemise or a satin blouse or indeed anything with a satin texture to it society dictates that she is free to discuss the pleasures of owning and wearing such a garment with her peers but if a male wishes the same he is bound to the constraints of hiding in a "society dictated shame" to the confines of an internet chatroom. For many years women have cried out for equality, well isn't it about time that men were also afforded equality instead of being forced to either buy off the web, or shamefully explain to the giggling female assistant, "It's a present for the wife"? Approximately four hundred years ago it was the noble gentlemen that went about their business adorned in the finest silks and satins so why not now? Who was it who decreed in the twenty first century that women may dress for bed in silk and satin but men must wear brushed cotton? Why is it that if a women obtains a job in the boadroom and dresses for the role in her "power suit" she is hailed as a hero but if a man obtains a job in the local hairdresser and wears an elegant satin shirt to work immidately questions are raised about his masculinity? It has long been known that nobody is one hundred percent male and nobody is one hundred percent female so why is this medical fact only applied to the female species and not to the male species as well. I long for the day when a bloke can openly tell his workmates, "I can't wait to get home from work tonight, I'm gonna open a few cans of beer, put the footie on television and get out of these overalls and slip into my new full length satin nightdress!

I def agree! I always feel slightly awkward when buying satin nightwear from shops, would be great to do that without having to worry :)

It's not fair is it. I'd like to buy some camisole tops that I've seen in BHS and even though I will buy them you've sort of got to get yourself all geared up for it.

you make some good points Mica. yes like you say who the hell decided silk and satin was mostly for womens clothing? but funny enough in my country (New Zealand) mens satin boxers shorts are sold in every good mens department store in a whole variety of colours and patterns, hundreds of them.,and they sell well :D ,guys here obviously love the feeling of them around their junk, but you would rarely see a guy in public in a mens satin shirt in New Zealand, unless its me !!!! ,however I think here people are very laid back and wouldnt draw too much attention if a guy was in a piece of satin outerwear,as I found out when i wore a purple satin shirt and tie to a wedding in Dec09. I only got good comments not stares from suspious onlookers .Its a shame more guys dont wear satin as outerwear here thoughI suppose there are only so many trends in clothing and given time everything comes back into fashion more than once.

Satin robe exists for men, there are also satin underwear like boxers, satin pajama's bottom... but it's missing terribly a clothe like a little satin tank that could be worn as a top.

Here are few pics to illustrate how I combinate satin men's clothes with women's satin clothes.

Here in the UK you can buy satin boxer shorts but, for me, it doesn't have the same appeal as encasing the whole of your body in satin that you would get if you were to wear a full length satin robe or nightdress. Sealion says that he wore a purple satin shirt to a wedding but I bet he would not wear a pink floral satin shirt to go down to his local supermarket in would you or a nice camisole top tucked into your jeans like Soiedouce now would you :?? Tell me both Sealion or Soidouce is this something you would freely discuss with your mates down the local pub or something you would rather keep hidden behind an internet chatroom :?:

I don't want to be seen as a bit of a bore about this topic but since I submitted this topic only yesterday it has already had 356 viewings. Doesn't that also show that there are more people out there who enjoy the feel of satin than Joe, or Joanne for that matter, Public might choose to believe?

I usually discuss about my satin addict in forum or chat room.
My wife knows my fetish but it's not a daily discussion.

In French, we say "c'est mon Jardin Secret" (it's my secret garden)

thats exactly right Mica I wouldnt wear a pink floral satin shirt to the supermarket. Firstly because I dont like floral patterns , secondly I dont go much on the colour pink and thirdly I wear mens satin clothing to what I consider appropriate occasions, dressy or formal occasions,Just as the same as I wouldnt wear a tuxedo to a basketball game. But each to their own. :D

I would only discuss my liking of satin to a male friend if they brought up the topic first and said they liked it. With my female friends a bit different, as they wouldnt be so quick to judge me . Some of my female friends know i have a lot of satin stuff anyway and don t appear to be bothered by a male having satin shirts or pjs,if anything they (females) are interested, one wanted to know once all the colours of my satin bedsheets ! :D

Forgot to add thats because I only ever wear mens satin or silk clothing. I can get full mens satin or silk pjs and robes anytime from the USA , so I dont bother with womens satin, but each to their own thats everyones choice to make.I wouldve only bought womens satin pjs and robes if they didnt make mens ones .IF you are looking for MENS TANK TOPS/SINGLETS or MENS T SHIRTS in 100% SILK/SATIN check out SULIS LTD on net in the UK .they look pretty good as alternative.

Here in the UK a female can purchase a satin camisole or kimono wrap for less than ten pounds from any department store but if a male wishes to buy a satin or silk robe they are confined to exclusive men's wear shops where they can pay anything up from seventy pounds.

I love satin and silk nighties but the problem I find is not just buying them but finding the right size. I feel the shops should stock them made in men's sizes If anyone know where to get satin nighties made for men then let me know please and f you are some one who makes them them again please get in contact thanks :D
