Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't a forum supposed to be a place where someone posts a topic & others reply with their views,opinions & comments.

Take a look through the posts on this forum & you'll see many threads with thousands of views & only a hand full of replies,why ? I have one thread on here that has over 22 thousand views & 128 replies,so in real terms that equates to maybe 80 replies & I'm not the only one.Members take time & effort to compose their post,resize images & for what ? Is it a case that people look at the post,get their kicks & leave,is it because they are too lazy or just can't be arsed to take a few seconds to show their appreciation or do they just not want to get their keyboards sticky

This forum is a great place for like minded people to share views & opinions,share pictures etc.The admins have even provided a chat facility that seldom seems to get used.All this costs money to maintain but costs us nothing to use,free,gratis...so please take your hands off your knobs for a few seconds & if you enjoy someones post just leave a few words of encouragement,because the last thing we need is for the most active members here to think "sod this, if the rest can't be arsed neither can I...I'm off" then where would we be.

I agree with you on this, that the ratio between viewing and responding is low. Thats why I'm trying to respond more to the post I look at.

Already feel you on that one! Made a topic about my new digital camera and I was hoping for lots of creative posts but hardly anyone put in their two cents...it doesn't even have to be silk either...though silk does have that amazing look in slow motion that you can't get out of any other type of satin!

Totally agree.

99%+ of forum users are freeloaders which just makes you feel that you are being taken for a mug when you go to the trouble of posting something.

What to do?

Form an elite area when only those with enough posts can go?

I think that it is pretty much the same on any forum. I don't think that there should be any sort of "elitist" section for the most prolific posters though.

Some of the people that arrive here are perhaps young people that are just trying to come to terms with their attraction to satin and are looking for help/advice/reassurance. They may simply be wanting to see what other people say about satin. To have some special members section might put some off.

When I was young there was no Internet or forums I could simply turn to where I could have quickly learnt that I wasn't a total one off freaky weirdo.

I read a lot of posts that, for one reason or another, I don't reply to. It doesn't mean that the post aren't useful or interesting. Yes, it can be disappointing if we start a thread on some topic that we consider of great interest and importance and it then only gets a couple of comments. That's forum life. Apart from anything else, threads can quickly get buried.

So, I'm in favour of leaving things as they are.

PS FAO Friedletown. I've just asked an Ebay seller if she had any pics of herself wearing a dress that I am watching. It took a couple of goes but I managed to get my Email address to her, despite freaking Ebay's electronic sentries looking out for Email addresses. Freaking Ebay!

Anyone interested in setting up a yahoo group for prolific posters only?

I suppose setting up an elite area or maybe a Yahoo group could be the answer to this issue but why leave ?

This could be a great forum if more members got involved.The admins have dedicated a lot of time & effort not to mention expense to provide a forum where we can all share experiences,views & advice & I for one believe that as forum members we owe them the loyalty that their hard work & dedication deserves.

My view is that we need to think of ways to get other members more involved in the topics posted.Maybe a good way would be to set a minimum number of posts before images can be viewed because let's be honest that's one of the main reasons people come here.Not sure if that's possible.

Any other suggestions ?

I'm beginning to find this thread slightly amusing. If there was a "prolific" posters Yahoo group, Satinstainer, Friedletown and Ilove pureSS would probably get a bit bored being there on their own!

I've done a quick check of the people on this thread and hardly anyone has posted more per month than me, at around 8/month, and I'm certainly not a "prolific poster".

So I guess that the qualification to join the elite group would have to be pretty low then?

Of course, anyone can do whatever they want. Set up a Yahoo group and form your own private little clique, if it bothers you that much that you feel that you are somehow being ripped off by a load of "free loaders" on here.

Personally, I can't see the problem. I wouldn't really want to see threads full of post after post saying little more than "thanks", or "that's great", etc, etc. I'm not sure if we have it, but is there any facility of simply registering a "thanks" for a post, like on the Warrior forum, (spit!) I often don't leave a comment on a post because I either have no opinion on it or else I don't feel qualified to.

That said, I do acknowledge that we all owe a big thank you to those posters that do provide a lot of input, that do know how to take a good pic and upload it and do come up with interesting/amusing posts. The forum would be lesser place if those people chose to leave so I hope that they don't.

To put it in perspective, another forum of which I'm a member recently held a poll on an issue. Out of about 3000 members, less than 10 bothered to vote. And that was simply asking for an opinion, not to write a post or anything.

There may be many reasons why people don't post on here. Perhaps English isn't there 1st language. Perhaps they have trouble/don't like writing. Perhaps they feel that they may embarrass/make a fool of themselves. They might not have a digital camera or can't figure out how to upload pics. Who knows. I will reiterate what I said earlier. By posting here, whether or not our post are acknowledged, we may be helping others come to terms with and maybe understand their own addiction to satin.

I have to say that after taking the time to post images on here I have noticed I only get maybe a couple of comments, for instance I posted quite a few images on Maxilovers "Coat lining" thread quite some time back now and only received comments from Maxi and PDL if I remember correctly despite a vast number of views and hence I felt no further inspiration to post any more images to be honest (of which I have many, many more images and videos of my own exploits) . This rubs off onto my own lack of posts on other peoples threads as I simply can't be assed! which I fully accept is not the right attitude to take but I hope you can appreciate where I'm coming from.

How did you make that tally, tatra? I've only been on here just a few months...I guess I like to update or add my 2 cents in a bit.
