Further to my last, I think that I would tend to appear all indignant and leave +ve FB, (if everything else is OK,) but leave a comment that an innocent request for some pics to see how the dress looked when worn was met with an abusive response.

If I have tried to get pics of a potential purchase being worn I am always very careful how I word it and always suggest that they "cut off the heads" or obliterate faces by some other means. They very often leave them but I think that it reassures them.

I don't think that her refusal to send the pics was unreasonable but maybe her language was unnecessary. However, aren't you just going to convince her that she was right if you go ahead with your plan? All she has to do then is hit the Ebay user forums and warn other sellers to beware of buyers asking for pics of dresses being worn as they are most likely going to be pervy creeps.

It could lead to it becoming even harder to get the pics.

Tatra.
I agree that tact in asking is everything.

"I am interested in the dress, but it's hard to see what it would look like tried on, as you know sometimes sizes are deceptive and everyone is different. do you mind taking a couple of pictures while trying it on so I can see how long it is, how it fits and such? Thanks"

versus

"Hey, can you send me some pics of you wearing the dress. I really want to see you in it"

However, I doubt there would be any backlash if you left a negative. Bottom line is part of the buying experience is getting good communication and response from a seller, not rude and curt remarks. I don't think it is unreasonable for a buyer to ask for ACCURATE photos of the item they are bidding on. After all, it isn't like you can examine the item in person. You are relying on 100 percent visual (photos) and descriptive text. If someone doesn't want their face shown, perfectly fine with me- understandable, but a shot of the dress on their form is not unreasonable.

FWIW I've bought dozens of dresses, and never had a seller refuse to provide such photos, if they weren't already in the ad copy. And I've done this with other items too, coats, shirts- even ones I purchase to wear as "regular" clothing. It's just good business on Ebay to provide real photos of what it is you are selling.

Personally, I think it should be REQUIRED. Enough of this low res or stock photo bullshit.

First off Freddie, how does anger and shouting out expletives solve anything?

Tatra hit on some really good points.
It is understandable that some sellers are cautious about having their pics shown to strangers. Privacy is such a big issue. You may argue, what can possibly go wrong with a girl showing innocent prom pictures for the purpose of selling her dress.... well we here are examples of how things can go wrong. LOL We are far from blameless.

If a seller declines to show pics, I simply won't buy from them.
I can also see how you giving feedback with sexual reference can be taken as a breach of the terms of service. I still would like to see how she responds to it though! Just be careful.

Meh. Working a lot / stess tends to make things easily frustrate / anger me. I just didn't like his comments and basically took it as an insult against what I do.

I didn't win the dress anyway, so it doesn't even matter. It ended really late and got upbid a bit, plus I forgot to bid, so yeah. If I would have won it, I definitely would have said something in the feedback comment, but probably not as crazy. The seller can have it removed and I'd hate to have my account banned or whatever.

It would have been funny, though...

You know what?

You're right.

Tatra, alhb, everyone, I apologize. Sorry I'm such a hot head. You'll just have to understand that it's mainly due to sexual frustration and stress from shit at work.

I don't think I'm going to post anymore for a while...

I guess I'll throw my useless two cents in here  It appears this whole discussion began with the way Freddie mentioned dealing with the seller and got out of hand quickly  I can understand where he could have offended by the girl's attitude. However, if he wishes to follow up on it, perhaps he could word a msg in some way where she might understand that it was unnecessary to react that way. I don't know the man personally, but I don't think he would really have sent her a msg of that content. Obviously, that wouldn't have helped future transactions on either side. Even though I made a stupid comment myself, I know I wouldn't do it.
There is no reason to be so disrespectable to those that commented though Freddie, their opinions have merit, same as yours do. Depending on how you worded your msg to her, maybe she had a reason to wonder about you. One of the others on here mentioned suggestions on alternate ways of asking sellers to pose their outfits for you that may work a little better. With the way society is these days, you have to watch how you say things.
For over 20 years I have bought many dresses from people personally, garage sales, stores, craigslist, and just recently from ebay and have NEVER had any problem with any seller. I almost always say they're for my girlfriend and quite a few times, the seller thought it was cool that I was doing that  In all fairness I should say I have never asked a seller to pose the outfit either, though a couple times "she" has held the outfit up to herself to show me. It's all in how you come across. So personally, I don't care if there are pix of "her " wearing it or not, I know what I look for in the dress itself.
I buy my dresses for the dress...I have my own imaginary scenarios for what I do with them
There is plenty of room on this forum for us to explore and share our interests....we don't need to fight about them
Before I sent this, I read the new comments and Freddie I want to commend you on the fact you cooled down a bit. Stress can definetly fuck with a person, I'm sure we can all relate to that from time to time  Some of my dresses have shown the result of past sexual frustration   Seriously though,I sincerely hope things get better for you, they're bound to. I have also enjoyed seeing your posts on here, and whenever you're ready, I hope to see more :D

Yes i think we all need to be very careful about putting photos of young girls posing in there dresses because of in case you get a knock on the door from the internet police they must be keeping a very close eye on this sort of site. how about changing the photos just of the dresses them selves or getting some sort of permission from the girls first before posting photos of them wearing dresses. especially with all that it going on with the Sir Jimmy Savills case with all the famous male stars being arrested and questioned to appear in court.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You're jumping the gun there a bit. There's nothing illegal about what I'm doing here. They aren't naked, and they are of legal age. They're just pictures of girls. No harm, no foul. Sorry, but I won't be changing the way I post pictures. That's the whole reason I buy all the dresses.

That guy assaulted 10 year olds. Completely different.

This dress was listed on ebay, but I'm not sure if it can be classified as "clean" There looks to be some stainage on the front...I wonder if that's what they mean by the phrase "gently loved"

I edit every post a billion times, because I have a lot to say and not all of it is necessary. Please, I really don't want to start another argument with someone today. The girls are of age. If you don't like it, don't visit this thread. Do not compare me to a creepy ass pedophile who assaulted children. I'm not a fucking criminal. End of story. Do not comment anymore about this. You are completely incorrect and your false accusations are derailing the thread even further than it already has. I'm really getting tired of all this...

lol, hey man. I just want the Mods to hurry up and delete everything from the past day or so.

Nah, never heard of Jimmy Savile until satins69 brought him up, so of course I went and Googled him. Dude was an old creepy fuck. Plus, he's been dead for like three years now so it wasn't even relevant lol.

Just won this dress. Sorry the pictures aren't so great; they're the best I could get. The girl and her friend wore the same exact dress to their Senior Homecoming. Unfortunately, there is an entire album on her friend's MySpace page, but it's Private and only viewable to friends. So unless anyone knows how to view private profiles, those pictures will never see the light of day.

Hell yes, that is one sexy dress. Pink is the sexiest color for satin.
Sorry to hear you didn't win that other one, but glad to see you back to posting again. I hear you Freddie on the sexual and work frustrations you're going through. Hope things get better. But at least you have a job, unlike me, I've been out of work for over a year now and despite having a double degree from a pretty good university, no one wants to hire me, I have no clue why. It's been incredibly frustrating as heck.

Good news! This morning I took out the boring, so called "prom dress" (aqua blue/blk one) and made a pretty good video worthy of an -removed- upload. It's been a long time cumming, and I know you've been anticipating something from me Freddie, so in 4 days or so it should be up.

Last thing. There is this dress I am keeping very close tabs on, on Ebay. It's fuschia colored and I really hope I win it. So note to you Freddie and everyone else on here, please don't bid on an fuschia colored dresses from Ebay in the coming 4 days! This will be my very first ever prom dress if I can win it. I don't want to end up overpaying also, being as broke as I am. So cut a man some slack and don't steal this from me...
