Yes, the word satin nowadays is used almost universally to describe pretty much any type of 'shiny' fabric, can't really fault the seller for that. As for types I love polyester satin, acetate is great too...but polyester can be washed again and again. I've bought many wedding and formal dresses from the 70s and 80s and have yet to be disappointed. One particular wedding dress I have is more of a duller satin and not that smooth, but it's poofy as heck which also drives me wild. Different strokes for different folks.
