Damn....what a waste Can you believe that shit ?? That is just sooooo wrong.....all those beautiful dresses.....trashed. I can't believe they did that. I for sure would have been grabbin as many as I could The retailer sure had a piss poor excuse for doing it too. On a lighter note, I kind of would have liked to have watched

Wasn't part of the reason they gave was to reduce counterfeiting? How does spraying paint on them stop that? Surely counterfeiters copy the design. I'm sure they aren't stupid enough to think that red paint is part of the design. Tatra.

I thought of another reason. I wonder if they had a directive from the head of the company to destroy the dresses. Either that, or when the employees found out they were closing the stores and losing their jobs, they went on a protest to show the heads of the comany they were upset about losing their jobs.

This is yet another demonstration of the greed and inconsiderate wastefulness of our society. I don't buy the bogus that these dresses were in poor condition, therefore, not donate-able. They looked spanking new to me. Besides, they are wedding dresses for crying aloud...the most meticulous care goes into handling them (unless you put them in the hands of one of us). I will not be fooled by the BS that they were destroyed to prevent counterfeiting....LOL Someone please explain to me how that logic can possibly makes sense in any way?

The reason I believe why these dresses were destroyed was to control the prices of the wedding dress market. Much like how farmers poured milk on the streets during the Great Despression, despite all people dying of starvation. Price manipulation....GREED...selfishness.

Nice statement that David's Bridal released at the end. Although I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt in that they will try their best to donate future dresses, it looks more like a PR move to save face. What they really intend to do it make sure future dresses get destroyed behind closed doors, away from cameras. Sad society we live in.

Good points Destroy, I'm sure many would agree with you. I think the company's reply was bullshit also I am actually familiar with that shop as I am originally from the Twin Cities. There are many low income couples, or brides that don't have much money for a nice gown like those, that would have been happy to have one of them. They could even have reduced the prices if those dresses were in such bad shape. Just like most bridal shops, they are very high priced also.
On a different note, I guess the fetish part of me was wondering if any of those workers wanted to do anything to those dresses besides spray paint them
Who knows....with some of the trends nowdays, they could have created a new wedding dress fad After all, there is a "trash the dress" fad that some brides/couples are enjoying.
