I prefer polyester satin to any other kind of satin because it’s of the shiniest and the most slippery kind. The back of my mother’s waistcoat and the lining of her matching skirt were made of polyester. You can read about my mother’s waistcoat and skirt here.
I also like acetate satin.
Real silk is not that shiny and not that slippery. Besides, it’s too thin.

I know there are lots of different types of satin, and I have found its not always expensive satin that pushes the buttons, like others on here I found the most beautiful slippery feel was from polyester satin, such a beautiful glossy shine and such a slippery silky feel to it, I found robes of polyester and acetate satin hung better than most other types.
Re: What satin/material have you enjoyed?
yes I agree with all of you, a good quality polyester satin is the best..Usually the better polyester satins are smooth on the dull side which is the type I always go for. If I buy any satin clothes on the net and the dull side is like cotton I get someone to line it in satin, so I get the feeling I want on my skin.Silk is nice and soft, but yes I agree its not that slippery and usually not as shiny as polyester or acetate satin and silk pjs crease really badly, after sleeping.

NOTHING beats the sensual feel of acetate satin on your skin. NOTHING. Especially when jacking off with it. Acetate is a wicking fabric that will soak up the liquid fast, and you can feel the threads teasing your cock. Bridal satin has a very high thread count and has an superb luster, but I'm also very fond of acetate linings of formal, prom and bridesmaid dresses. Sometimes this is the most erotic type because it kind of has a little resistance to it that entices you, and knowing the bare naked body of a woman was right up against it makes me cum that much more.
Problem is it is usually dry clean only, and can stain easily. When wanking with acetate, I try to clean up as fast as possible using a towel. Sometimes blotting a little Woolite will preserve the texture, but usually it leaves a slight stain. Of course if you are into doing it with dress linings, usually if you put something underneath (nice polyester padding is great) will keep it from damaging the outer part of the dress and allow you to go to town on the lining.
Polyester can also be just as wild if it's the right kind. the cheap kind of Walmart lingerie isn't that fun. But the type used in some coat linings is a great lay. I have a couple of Rocawear women's bomber jackets. These feel incredible, each one has a silky polyester lining and I like to put them on naked underneath and feel the satin all over me, then jack off to them. Good thing is they are machine washable and usually tossing them in after a sperming session leaves them clean and fresh for the next time I feel the urge to purge. I also have a Reebok Hardwood Classics (yeah it gives me Hard Wood everytime I put it on) Boston celtics jacket that has a silky nylon shell and a polyester satin lining. It also has some insulation in it so it feels stunning when I wrap it around my cylinder and rub it until I shoot off. No worries as it cleans up easy.
But nothing is as erotic and pleasurable as a good hard acetate fuck. Nothing.

I agree about acetate...both the smooth outer stuff and the formal linings. I also notice how the lining acetate sort of grabs your cock! My favorites are the acetate formals of the 80's....what a great feeling! There are only a few polyesters that can even come close to the acetate feel.
Re: What satin/material have you enjoyed?
My favorite satin fabric has always been acetate satin. I like the weight and feel of vintage satin sheets and a company called scentsations made a fine acetate satin line but unfortunately went to the polyester charmeuse and now something called polyester microfibre. For me there is nothing more exciting than slipping naked into my many colors of acetate satin sheets and having a wonderful masturbation session in them. I had several sets of polyester charmeuse sheets but got rid of them as they just didn't turn me on like my acetate satins do. I do have one very nice heavier momme weight silk sheet set that feels as nice as acetate satin that I love to cum in. I have just requested a couple of polyester bridal satin samples to see and feel how close they are to acetate satin and if they meet my expectaions, will order fabric and have a set of sheets made. I have also had a love for the vintage rayon satin nightgowns from the 40s but haven't jacked off into one for years. I do have a pair of polyester satin pajamas that I ordered from a male catalogue that I like to wear for comfort and rarely sex but for 99.9% of the time my sex is dedicated to my lovely acetate satin sheets. I can wrap myself in them for the most exquisite pleaure and as the previous person said, there is NOTHING that comes close to the pleasure from the feel of acetate satin.

Re: What satin/material have you enjoyed?
Have any of you tried the material Tricel to cover the cock and wank into. It is a material made by Cartaulds and was very popular in the 50's and 60's. It is liks a half way house between silk and satin, heavier than silk but without the gloss of satin but with an unusually silky feel, and for a cum rag is washable. I use Tricel quite often and find it's feel unusual and pleasantly different.
Another satin I find fantastic is the thick super slick satin some christening gowns are made from, I have a few of these, enough material in them to cover the cock and again some are washable, they must be a form of polyester but very high quality, I have never found any full size dresses made from this material although the closest I found has been some dresses [that I bought on ebay] made by Jordan and Joanie G.The sad fact is that really good thick slick satin is no longer popular and is no longer made, like the old 1940's wedding dresses made from that incredible Rayon satin.
The thing to do is just keep trawling the sites and occasionally something really good does come up for sale.

Re: What satin/material have you enjoyed?
I am another vote for acetate satin. The more glossy and slipperier the better. I went to far as to have opera gloves custom made in the same acetate satin I had my dresses made from. These days I mostly masturbate with acetate satin fabric wearing a latex exam glove to gently grip the dull side of the satin. Then gently stroke as the latex adheres to the satin giving an exquisite amount of control over the slippery sensations your poor engorged must endure as you moan in ecstasy. With my other hand I tickle my own tummy using a satin prom dress from the 80's to tickle the dull side of the satin fabric I am under. It feels like absolute heaven. In my younger days I would go to massage parlors and dress the ladies up in satin gowns and teach them how to make me moan with satin.
I recently found a few yards of vintage rayon satin and made a purchase of 2 yards to try masturbating with. It hasn't shipped yet but I can hardly wait. I have also played with some of the newer polyester satin fabrics and I am shocked at how nice they have become.

I am a t girl who is addicted to acetate satin. Wearing satin, satin sheets and being bound and tickled tortured with satin ribbons and bows.

Polyester satin for sure....some items are obviously better than others. BHS Is a good bet. Pictures on ebay can be very misleading! I've probably discarded 50 % of what I've bought in order to have the shiniest, slippiest, collection of everything I have now....100s of items. Shorts, skirts. Camis, nighties, and robes .... about a quarter of the time now I wear leather or PVC with them. And satin bedding is a must obviously. A birthday suit in a satin bed is also awesome. All this talk now of acetate is making me want to bite the bullet and spend the extra few quid on something!!!!!!

100% pure mulberry silk satin/charmeuse! History lesson for you…if it wasn’t for silk, none of the other fabrics would even exist. The best quality about pure silk satin is the fluidity…nothing moves like it and the way it feels as it moves and drapes is unlike any other. Moves like water and has just enough shine to it! Combine those two qualities together mashed up with the smoothest satin texture to it and it’s unbeatable in that department. If you think it’s too light, they have multiple weights to the fabric so there are thicker options.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some great poly/acetate satins out there that I’ve felt, even a poly satin lining that’s in some of the silk dresses I own that puts most other satins to shame. But, considering how poly/acetate is what it’s really made from just makes them feel…well…fake…because the majority of that is pretty much plastic. Silk is all natural, feels natural and has added benefits to it that fake satins doesn’t have.
Few big drawbacks to silk.
The care for it. As long as it’s treated as highly recommended, it’ll last for a long while! Some silks you can wash but others are dry clean recommended. You would have to use a special silk detergent to wash with and you can’t really throw it in the dryer as silk does not hold up in the heat. You can wash and dry most other satins just fine. Anything gets on silk, it needs to be treated quickly, near immediate.
The price. Silk is a luxury fabric so if you want real luxury quality, silk is one of the most expensive fabrics out there. Tariffs don’t make it any easier to purchase if you import it thanks to that being implemented more publicly. You see most events happen, silk is pretty much widely worn at those events. You would really have to save up to buy silk.
Durability is a mixed bag. It can last longer than regular satin in terms of durability. Doesn’t pill as fast. Different story when wet though, wet silk does damage easier which needs the more delicate treatment.
Silk has been growing in popularity lately because of its natural benefits. Blissy has grown in popularity for their pillowcases that it’s in all US Target stores, available to purchase over the counter. The ones they have on their website has many different collaborations with movies, comics and and TV show franchises. Plus discounts on their site with added bonuses that make them a more popular product nowadays.
I heard most of others takes on what they don’t like about silk and sometimes I tend to not believe that. My belief is maybe it was preowned that was mistreated or maybe too light a fabric or a different type or weave of silk fabric altogether. There are many different silk weaves out there so maybe there’s confusion in that.
Once I’ve felt silk charmeuse, I’ve never looked back at other satins because to me, silk is the ultimate ‘and OG’ satin fabric.

How a woman should be touched...
When you drop silk on her skin, the same way that touches her and falls down at the same time... that is the perfect way to touch a woman...
